Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are favorites to win Super Bowl 54 over the San Francisco 49ers but reigning NFL MVP Mahomes could just as easily be pitching balls in another sport.

The son of Patrick Mahomes, a Major League Baseball pitcher from 1992 to 2003 for the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates, the younger Mahomes played high school baseball and football and was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the MLB Free Agent Draft.

As this story by MLB.com shows, Mahomes was an outstanding baseball player. He played in the Little League World Series, and pitched a 16-strikeout no-hitter in high school.
