The GOAT Tries Hockey, Basketball

Many life lessons were gleaned from the popular television series Ted Lasso. One of those lessons was to allow yourself the opportunity to be curious.
Try some new things. Take yourself out of your comfort zone and see what the outcome of that scenaro turns out to be.
That's also part of the message of the GIVE AND GO SPORT EDUCATION documentary. Don't be afraid to try something new. It can be a new sport, or even something outside the realm of athletic competiiton, such as joining the school band, auditioning for the school play, even becoming a mathlete.
NFL icon Tom Brady already had reached elite level in two sports. He's a seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback. That's the most times any player has ever lifted the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Brady was also an outstanding high shool baseball player who was chosen by the Montreal Expos in the MLB Draft.
But a hockey player? A basketball star?
No, those items weren't checked off on Brady's sporting resume.
Until, that is, he decided to show everyone it's never too late to try something new.
Brady took to the ice in full gear to give hockey a try, under the tutelage of former NHLer Tie Domi.
Was Brady's on-ice venture a success? It was in terms of the courage he was showing to give a new sport a go. But no, an NHL team won't be calling offering him a tryout.
"New found respect for all you NHLers out there," Brady said afterwards. "Not that I didn't have it before, but you guys are ridiculous athletes."
His adventures on the basketball went much more swimmingly for Brady. He was playing against his son Jack.
"Not quite like I remember it," Brady said, adding it was a much tougher grind than when he was a younger man.
The message here is that he gave it a try. And that you don't have to be a star at a sport to enjoy the benefits that you'll gain from the competition.
The only regret you'll have from playing a new sport is not giving it a chance.
If The GOAT can try something new, then so can you.
